February Currently

It was quite the week! My days were filled with a graduate class, a math inservice, and lots and lots of data meetings! (not to mention teaching!) My mind definitely needs a break this weekend! These Currently Linky Parties looked like so much fun that I just had to give it a try. I can't wait to see what everyone else has to say!

I absolutely LOVE Pandora and I can never get enough of Ingrid Michaelson. She is my absolute favorite and one of those few people that actually sounds just as good live, if not better.

The snow is really coming down outside and looks beautiful. The only thing that would make it better would be if we got a snow day out of it!

Time always seems to go so quickly! There are so many things I want to get done this weekend, but the time always seems to just slip away.

Who doesn't want a snow day?!

I need to get a move on and get today's run in. I am training for a 10k. Today I am planning on running 5 miles. I feel much better if I just get it done in the morning.

Pet Peeves:

It may sound ridiculous, but the sound of people constantly clearing their throats is the equivalent of nails on a chalkboard for me. I mean, I understand if you are sick, but people who constantly do it during meetings for no reason? Why?!

Do any of my other lovely teacher bloggers have data meetings this time of year? I would love to hear what yours are like.

  1. I almost peed my pants! I actually cleared my throat when I got to your page, to keep from coughing and waking up hubby! I promise, it was necessary, lol. Thanks to Farley's rule of three, I am your newest friend. I would love me some snow, but alas, I live in Florida, so its a no go. My daughter just started running a few months ago and is trying to get me to start. I don't like to run, so I am still on the fence. Maybe you can motivate me, haha. Anyhoo, I am loving your blog, especially that it is geared to small group intervention. Everyone could us some guidance in that arena.

    Come visit me!

  2. I just found your blog through Currently! I'm your newest follower! I'm a runner as well but I have to admit I'm a fair weather runner during the winter months. I ran a marathon in October and have only been running twice since. I mean, who does that??? Me! Feel free to come over and check out my blog!!

  3. I hadn't even thought about throat clearing. That IS annoying!

I'm jealous of your snow!! I just want one day of snow and I'd be happy!

I envy your ability to run. I can't run. I can't breathe and I feel like I'm dying (probably because I am out of shape). I need to go to the gym so badly but I can't carve out the time. :O( Maybe if I weren't reading blogs I'd have time? ;O)

  4. Snow days...we never get those is California. I admire for a 10K that is awesome! Thanks to this month's currently I found your blog and I am now your newest follower.

  5. We also have data mettings in my school. As a matter of fact, just yesterday was a workday for us and so my grade level got together to fill out "Data Protocol Sheets" for Math and Reading. On our sheets we have to record our classes strengths and weaknesses in each area, what we are planning on doing to remediate, how we are going to group our students, and the names of any students needing intervention. Then next week we meet by grade levels with the administration to discuss. This happens at the end of every semester. Our school is BIG on data and data chats.
I'm jealous that you run 5+ miles, I just recently celebrated for finishing 1 mile...

  6. We're your newest followers and found you through Farley's currently linky! No snow days here in Fl... only an occasional bad weather {hurricane} day. Hasn't happened in a while though {knock on wood}. In our data meetings we are reviewing our Fair {florida assessment in reading} data. We're comparing it to their results from the beginning of the year. Our PLC discussions are about what is working for the kids who have made great gains and what's not working for the others. I'm sure our next few PLC-data meetings will continue our talks. =)

  7. It seems that data meetings are everywhere now a days! I get their importance, but sometimes I think I analyze date more than I teach from it! Lol Anyways can't wait to see what else you have to add about small group intervention. It is challenging in itself!

  9. Our principal hacks...all of the time and especially during our morning announcements! It drives me crazy...I might actually prefer her to clear her throat instead! Lol! =)

I love snow but I am happy about Phil's weather prediction.

I am happy to be your newest follower. I would love for you to hop over and visit me when you get the chance. =)

  11. I have students who clear their throats contantly- one in particular! Then, she uses a made up word (not English, not her native language) because she gets embarassed. Hope you get a snow day soon!

  12. Great post! I'll have to join the linky party! This type of post has been on my "to post" list. I saw the idea on Pinterest, of course!

  13. Super post...and yes, nonstop clearing of throats drives me bonkers! One thought though...I have a younger sister who constantly does this and her doctor finally figured out it was ALLERGIES! Crazy, huh? We have our monthly round of data meetings this week and we (the teachers) actually run these on our own. Our school psych and guidance counselor take notes for us and our principal is there to facilitate. We are 4 years into this process and are pretty good at it!

Love your blog and am your newest follower. Please stop over and visit my blog...I'd love to have you jump on board!

  14. I just found you through Fourth Grade Friends. I teach fourth grade north of Seattle and I would love a snow day. I am your newest follower.

Thank you for the comment! I love hearing what you think!
